Slow-cooked chuck roast infused with garlic, anise, and sesame seeds for a flavorful Italian Beef dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (4 pound) boneless beef chuck roast
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon anise seed
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seed
  • 1 large green bell pepper, julienned
Instructions:
  • Wash and dry the roast thoroughly. Coat it evenly with flour, then season generously with salt and pepper.
  • In a hot skillet, sizzle garlic in olive oil, then brown beef on all sides. Move beef to a slow cooker and pour water over it.
  • Slow cook for 5 hours on Low. Stir in anise seed and sesame seed and let it simmer for 4 more hours. Add green bell pepper and cook until meat is tender and easily pulled apart, approximately 1 hour longer.
