Kid-friendly portable snack bars ideal for outdoor adventures.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 cup ground walnuts
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 1.75 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1.3333300352097 cups granola
  • 0.5 cup dried cranberries
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a 9-inch square pan.
  • In a sizable mixing bowl, combine the shortening, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Make sure to beat thoroughly after adding each ingredient.
  • Boil cranberries in water for 10 minutes in a small saucepan. Drain, chop into small pieces, and add to the egg mixture.
  • Gradually incorporate white and wheat flours, walnuts, salt, and baking powder, mixing until thoroughly combined. Gently fold in granola until evenly mixed throughout.
  • Smooth the dough evenly into the baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before cutting into delicious bars. Keep the bars fresh by storing them in an airtight container.
