Create decadent date and pecan candies using a cherished family recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Combine sugar, milk, and butter in a saucepan and bring to a boil without stirring. Cook until the mixture reaches 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) or forms a rigid ball in cold water, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in dates, pecans, and vanilla.
  • Dampen a piece of cheesecloth and spread it out on a flat surface. Place the candy mixture in the center of the cloth and roll it up to form a log shape.
  • Chill until firm for 8 hours to overnight. Unwrap and cut the log into slices.
