Heartburn-friendly tomato sauce made with tangy kefir for better digestion.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup plain kefir
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, warm oil. Sauté garlic until fragrant, approximately 30 seconds. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, oregano, and thyme. Allow to simmer until tomatoes are tender, around 10 minutes. Mix in baking soda and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes more.
  • Take off the heat and swirl in the kefir.
