Hearty Bacon-Steak Sandwiches

Try these delicious broiled steak sandwiches with avocado-horseradish spread and crispy French-fried onions for a special dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 ripe large avocado, pitted, peeled
  • 1/4 cup chopped tomato
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1 beef flank steak, 3/4 to 1 inch thick (1 lb)
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak grill seasoning
  • 4 kaiser rolls, split
  • 8 slices bacon, crisply cooked
  • 1/2 cup French-fried onions (from 2.8-oz can)
Instructions:
  • Mash avocado in a bowl, then mix in tomato, horseradish, and mayonnaise until fully combined. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to broil. Score both sides of beef in a diamond pattern about 1/8 inch deep and 1/2 inch apart. Season both sides of beef with grill seasoning, then place on a broiler pan.
  • Position beef about 4 inches from the broiler's top and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until preferred doneness. Place the beef on a cutting board, cover it with foil, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Slice beef thinly at a diagonal angle. Place beef evenly on the bottom half of the rolls. Add approximately 1/4 cup of avocado mixture on each, followed by 2 slices of bacon and 2 tablespoons of onions. Finally, cover with the top half of the rolls.
