Chewy whole wheat oatmeal cookies with a hint of sweetness from brown sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sifted whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups rolled oats
Instructions:
  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease cookie sheets.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; reserve for later use.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg, water, and vanilla, mixing until combined. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, then fold in the oats. Drop teaspoonfuls of the dough 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned with set edges. Cool cookies on a wire rack until completely cooled.
