Decadent Ho Ho Cake: Layers of cake and creamy filling, topped with rich chocolate, inspired by Hostess® favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (9 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup margarine
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1.5 teaspoons hot water
  • 3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1.75 cups confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Follow the package instructions to prepare and bake the cake in a 9 x 13 inch pan, then allow it to cool completely.
  • In a saucepan, whisk together flour and milk until thickened, stirring constantly. Let it cool completely. In a bowl, cream together sugar, margarine, and shortening. Add the cooled milk mixture and beat until well combined. Spread the mixture over the cake, then refrigerate.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together egg, vanilla, melted chocolate, hot water, confectioner's sugar, and 1/2 cup margarine until smooth. Pour mixture over the second layer and chill in the refrigerator.
