Homemade Dressing

Sweet Hawaiian bread stuffing with cranberries, sunflower seeds, celery, onions, and seasonings. Perfect for a 12-15 pound turkey.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (1 pound) loaves Hawaiian sweet bread
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 3 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 0.5 onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1.5 cups dried cranberries
  • 0.5 cup sunflower seeds
Instructions:
  • Dice the day old sweet bread and transfer it to a spacious bowl. Sprinkle in the sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let the bread pieces air dry.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add celery, onion, and water. Stir occasionally until heated through but not boiling.
  • Mix the cranberries, sunflower seeds, and vegetable mixture into the bowl of dried bread, stirring thoroughly.
  • Stuff turkey with the mixture or bake in a buttered casserole dish at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes.
