Horenso no goma-ae (spinach & sesame salad)

Delicious Japanese spinach salad with sesame seeds for extra flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 40g (1/4 cup) sesame seeds, toasted
  • 21.00 gm soy sauce
  • 5.00 gm sushi seasoning
  • 10.00 gm caster sugar
  • 40.00 gm warm water
  • 1 bunch English spinach, trimmed
Instructions:
  • Pulse sesame seeds in a food processor until coarse. Blend in soy sauce, sushi seasoning, and sugar. Transfer to a bowl, mix in water, cover with plastic wrap, and let sit for 1 hour to enhance flavors.
  • Boil the spinach in a large saucepan of salted water for 1-2 minutes until tender. Drain and plunge into a bowl of ice water to cool, then squeeze out excess liquid. Coarsely chop the spinach, transfer to a serving dish, and toss with sesame seed mixture. Enjoy!
