Try this delicious and comforting hamburger stroganoff for an easy and satisfying cold weather meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (8 ounce) package sliced white mushrooms
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef, mushrooms, and onion, stirring occasionally until beef is browned and crumbly, for about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease. Transfer mixture to a bowl. In the same skillet, saute garlic with oil until golden brown, for about 1 minute.
  • Heat skillet over high heat, then pour in red wine and beef stock. Allow mixture to come to a boil while using a wooden spoon to scrape up the flavorful browned bits. Lower heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until flavors combine.
  • Combine sour cream and cornstarch in a bowl, then incorporate into the wine/broth mixture along with the browned beef. Simmer gently, stirring often, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
