Family-favorite tangy sauce recipe packed with flavor from onions and brown sugar. Perfect for sharing and can be stored in the fridge for weeks.
Ingredients:
2tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1onion, peeled and sliced
0.25 cupdistilled white vinegar
0.5 cupwater
2tablespoons brown sugar
1tablespoonprepared mustard
0.5 teaspoongroundblack pepper
1.5 teaspoons salt
0.25 teaspooncayenne pepper
0.25 cupvegetable oil
0.5 cupketchup
2tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1.5 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
Instructions:
Combine lemon juice, onion, distilled white vinegar, water, brown sugar, prepared mustard, ground black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, and vegetable oil in a saucepan. Boil, then simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.
Combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke into the mixture. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and refrigerate until needed.
