Get spooky in the kitchen with these festive pumpkin brownies that the whole family will enjoy decorating together!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
  • 1 1/4 cups Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 16 oz container)
  • Betty Crocker™ black and orange gel food colors
  • 8 green gumdrops, cut in half
  • Assorted candies (gumdrops, mini candy-coated chocolate candies), if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch square pan with foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang. Grease the foil with shortening or cooking spray. Prepare brownie batter according to package instructions and spread it in the pan.
  • Bake for 28 to 31 minutes, or until a toothpick, inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan, comes out almost clean. Allow to cool completely on a rack, about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Freeze in the pan for 30 minutes, then use the foil to easily lift the brownies out of the pan and peel away the foil.
  • Start by adding 2 tablespoons of frosting to a small bowl and tinting it with black food color until you reach your desired shade. Place the black frosting in a small resealable bag, partially seal it, and set it aside. Next, in another small bowl, mix the rest of the frosting with orange food color until you achieve your desired hue. Frost the top of the brownies with the orange-tinted frosting. For cleaner slices, refrigerate for 15 minutes to let the frosting set.
  • Cut the brownies into 4 rows by 4 rows using a sharp knife, creating 16 brownies. Clean the knife with a paper towel after each cut. Then, gently separate the brownies and press half a gumdrop onto the top edge of each brownie to create a stem.
  • Trim a small corner of the black frosting bag. Use the bag to create various facial expressions or adorn with preferred candies to design the eyes, nose, and mouth (refer to photo for inspiration).
