Elevate your homemade beef and broccoli with canned mushrooms and crisp snow peas for a flavorful twist on a classic Chinese dish.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup dry sherry
  • 0.33333334326744 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Asian (toasted) sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1.5 pounds beef sirloin steak, trimmed and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more if needed
  • 1 thin slice fresh ginger root
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 pound broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 (16 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 8 ounces snow peas
Instructions:
  • Combine sherry, oyster sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl. Whisk until sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Place the steak slices in a shallow bowl, generously drizzle the oyster sauce mixture over the meat, ensure each slice is evenly coated, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sauté ginger and garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute. Remove and discard them. Stir-fry broccoli, mushrooms, and snow peas until broccoli is vibrant and nearly tender, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the veggies to a bowl.
  • 1. Transfer beef slices with marinade to skillet and cook until sauce forms a glaze and beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add cooked vegetables back to the wok and stir until the broccoli is heated through, about 3 minutes.
