Apple cobbler with a cake-like topping, perfect with custard sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 5 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1.6666667461395 cups white sugar, divided
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 0.5 cup table cream (18%)
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for perfect baking results.
  • Combine apples, 2/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg; transfer the apple mixture into a 9x9-inch baking dish with a 2-inch depth.
  • Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a separate cup, mix egg, cream, and melted butter. Pour egg mixture into flour mixture and stir until combined. Spread batter over apples to seal them in completely using the back of a spoon.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the top turns a beautiful golden brown, for approximately 50 minutes.
