Indulge in a decadent caramel apple cheesecake dip paired with crunchy cinnamon chips.
Ingredients:
  • 1 large Red Delicious apple - peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced and softened
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream, room temperature
  • 0.75 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
  • 0.5 cup cinnamon-sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Combine diced apple with refreshing cold water and zesty lemon juice in a small bowl; let it soak for 10 minutes, then drain excess liquid.
  • Combine cream cheese, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a bowl until smooth. Gently fold in diced apple.
  • Place the cream cheese mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Shape it into a log using the plastic wrap, wrap the log tightly, and refrigerate for about 2 hours until set.
  • Heat white sugar in a 3-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until melted, smooth, and amber in color. This will take about 10 minutes. Add butter and whisk quickly until melted, for about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat. Gradually pour heavy cream into sugar mixture while stirring constantly with a whisk. Add sea salt and stir. Transfer caramel sauce to a glass bowl and let cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie pastry to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut the dough into 2-inch long rectangles. Place the dough strips on the baking sheet. Brush them with beaten egg and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on top.
  • Bake the dough strips in a preheated oven until they are beautifully golden brown, which should take around 10 to 15 minutes. Allow them to cool completely before enjoying.
  • Spread pecans in a dish. Roll cheese log in pecans. Drizzle caramel sauce over the log on a plate. Serve with pie crust chips.
