Decadent oat cherry dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups pitted tart red cherries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine brown sugar, flour, oats, butter, and cinnamon in a bowl until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into an 8x8-inch pan; layer with cherries on top.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, bring water, white sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract to a simmer. Stir until sugar is dissolved and syrup is clear, approximately 5 minutes. Pour the syrup over the cherries and sprinkle with the remaining brown sugar-oat mixture.
  • Bake in the hot oven until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbling, for about 30 to 35 minutes.
