Award-winning spicy chili with a secret ingredient of tomato soup.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 teaspoons ground cumin, divided
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 2 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup (such as Campbell's®)
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 (15.5 ounce) cans pinto beans, drained
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Add ground beef to a soup pot over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir until it's evenly browned, around 7 to 10 minutes. Leave 1 to 2 tablespoons of grease in the pot and discard the rest.
  • Sauté onion with 1 1/2 teaspoons of cumin and red pepper flakes until onion is tender, for about 5 minutes. Add chicken broth, condensed soup, and tomatoes; season with chili powder, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Add the pinto beans to the pot and sprinkle with the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of cumin and cayenne pepper. Let it simmer for another 30 minutes.
