Indulgent German Cold Dog cake with layers of chocolate wafers, chilled to perfection. Enjoy this decadent treat straight from your fridge with a tall glass of milk.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package plain butter cookies
  • 0.25 cup rum
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Arrange the butter cookies in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with rum. Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with aluminum foil, leaving extra hanging over the sides for easy storage.
  • Combine the egg and sugar in a medium bowl and whip until thick and pale. Add vanilla and cocoa powder, whisk until well blended, then gently mix in melted butter.
  • Layer the prepared pan with butter cookies, then spread a half-inch layer of chocolate cream on top. Continue alternating layers of cookies and cream until all the cream is used up, finishing with a layer of cookies on top. Cover with aluminum foil, refrigerate until firm (approximately 3 hours), slice into half-inch pieces, and enjoy.
