"Spicy chili con carne with a hint of sweetness and tanginess, loaded with beef, tomatoes, and three varieties of beans."
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 (16 ounce) can navy beans, with juice
  • 1 (16 ounce) can red chili beans in sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 0.5 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 0.5 cup diced celery
  • 0.25 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
Instructions:
  • In a stockpot over medium heat, heat oil. Sauté onions and garlic until tender, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, navy beans, chili beans, black beans, bell pepper, celery, brown sugar, vinegar, chili powder, and salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium-low heat until thick, at least 1 hour.
