Delightful Japanese miso sauce with mirin and sake pairs perfectly with tofu, eggplant, or fish.
Ingredients:
  • 5 tablespoons mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 3 tablespoons red miso paste
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1.25 tablespoons cooking sake
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, blend mirin, miso paste, egg yolk, and sake thoroughly. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously. Lower the heat and simmer gently, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to a jam-like consistency, for about 10 to 15 minutes.
