Try this delicious and nutrient-rich lamb recipe to boost your baby's iron intake as they start needing more around 6 months.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lamb shank
  • 1 pinch dried thyme
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, submerge the lamb shank in water and sprinkle with thyme. Cover and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Lower the heat to simmer and cook until the meat is tender and easily comes off the bone, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Separate the lamb and 16 ounces of cooking liquid into two containers. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight. Dispose of any leftover cooking liquid.
  • Remove and discard any solidified fat that has formed on the surface of the chilled cooking liquid.
  • Separate meat from bone and transfer to a food processor. Remove bone, excess fat, and tendons. Pour in 2 1/2 ounces of cooking liquid and blend until smooth, adding more liquid if necessary to reach desired consistency.
