Indulgent, decadent chocolate chip cookies that will make you forget all others.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1.125 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1.25 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cream together the shortening and sugars in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add the beaten egg and vanilla, mixing well. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then stir into the creamed mixture until thoroughly blended. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Scoop teaspoon-sized portions onto baking sheets and bake in the oven for 6-9 minutes. Be sure not to overbake; cookies should have lightly browned edges. Allow cookies to cool briefly on the baking sheet before transferring to a cooling rack. Optional: If using mini chocolate chips, reduce the amount to 1 cup without compromising the cookie quality.
