Indulgent Luther burgers feature juicy beef, crispy bacon, and savory onions sandwiched between sweet cake doughnut halves.
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices bacon, or more to taste
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons rum
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 cake doughnuts, halved
Instructions:
  • Fry bacon in a large skillet on medium-high heat, flipping occasionally, until crisp and dry, for approximately 10 minutes. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, then discard most of the excess bacon grease from the skillet.
  • Slice the onion into 6 pieces. Sauté in the bacon grease over medium heat until golden brown, about 6 to 8 minutes, flipping once. Remove from heat.
  • Season the beef with salt and pepper while the onion is cooking. Divide the seasoned beef into 6 equal portions and shape them into patties using a spatula or patty mold.
  • In a large skillet, warm the oil over medium heat.
  • Mix eggs, rum, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Dip patties in the mixture. Fry patties in hot oil for 3-4 minutes each side until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). Drain on paper towels.
  • Assemble burgers on half of the doughnuts topped with crispy bacon and caramelized onions.
