Savory ground beef cooked with onion soup mix, layered with canned vegetables, creamy mashed potatoes, and melted Cheddar in a comforting shepherd's pie.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet dry French onion soup mix
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 (11 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced carrots, drained
  • 1 (10 ounce) can peas, drained
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for a perfect bake.
  • In a large pot, boil potatoes covered with salted water. Once tender after about 15 minutes, drain and transfer to a large bowl. Mash with 1 tablespoon of butter using a potato masher or fork. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook and stir beef until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove excess grease. Mix in onion soup mix, chicken bouillon, and beef bouillon. Simmer for about 2 minutes to blend flavors. Add water if needed for desired consistency.
  • Evenly layer ground beef in a 2-quart casserole dish, followed by corn, carrots, and peas. Top with mashed potatoes and a sprinkle of paprika before baking.
  • After 20 minutes in the preheated oven, top the mashed potato layer with Cheddar cheese and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
