Hearty beef and bacon chili with sweet brown sugar to tame the fiery kick. Made with two types of beans for extra flavor.
Ingredients:
1poundground beef, or more to taste
1onion, chopped, or more to taste
1poundbacon
2 (15 ounce) canskidney beans, undrained, or more to taste
2 (15 ounce) cansbaked beans, undrained, or more to taste
1 (28 ounce) candiced stewed tomatoes, or more to taste
0.5 cupbrown sugar
2tablespoons barbeque rub (such as Great American Spice Co.™ Pit Master)
2tablespoons chili powder
1tablespoonhabanero-based hot sauce (such as Backdraft Fire Sauce®)
2teaspoons garlic powder
Instructions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the ground beef and onion until browned, for 5 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
In a large skillet, sizzle bacon over medium-high heat, flipping occasionally, until perfectly crispy for about 10 minutes. Then, drain and chop into delightful pieces.
In a large pot, mix together the beef, bacon, kidney beans, baked beans, tomatoes, brown sugar, barbeque rub, chili powder, hot sauce, and garlic powder. Let it simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until bubbling, for 2 to 3 hours. Once done, set aside to cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
Chill chili in the refrigerator for 8 hours to overnight.
Gently warm chili on low heat, stirring occasionally, for a minimum of 4 hours prior to serving.
