Missi's Bread Pudding

Indulgent bread pudding with vanilla cream sauce. Serve warm.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups bread cubes
  • 4 cups scalded milk
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for a perfect bake.
  • Grease an 8x8 inch glass baking dish with butter. Submerge the bread in hot milk for five minutes. Mix in 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon butter, a pinch of salt, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • Prepare a water bath: Line a roasting pan with a damp kitchen towel, place the baking dish on the towel inside the roasting pan, and fill the roasting pan with boiling water halfway up the sides of the baking dish. Bake for 60 minutes, then cool on a wire rack.
  • As the pudding cools, mix together 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, cream, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a large saucepan. Boil while stirring, then simmer on low heat for 3 minutes. Drizzle over the warm bread pudding.
