Indulgent chocolate cake made extra moist with sour cream, cocoa powder, and bold coffee flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder (such as Hershey's®)
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (such as Hershey's®)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and gently dust with 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder, or more if needed.
  • Combine cake flour, 3/4 cup cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a separate mixing bowl, blend sugar and canola oil, then beat with an electric mixer until combined. Add eggs one at a time, incorporating each before adding the next. Slowly beat in milk, coffee, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Lower the mixer speed and blend the flour mixture with the wet ingredients. Gently stir in the sour cream and transfer the batter to the baking pan.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs, roughly 40 minutes.
