Mom's "Sweet 'n Sours" Pork Ribs

Homemade sweet and tangy spare ribs with a secret family sauce blend of soy, sugar, vinegar, mustard, and garlic.
Ingredients:
1cupwhite sugar
0.25 cupall-purpose flour
1teaspoonsalt
0.5 teaspoonpepper
0.5 teaspoondry mustard
0.5 cupsoy sauce
0.5 cupvinegar
2pounds pork spareribs, cut into bite size pieces
1tablespoonvegetable oil
2clovesgarlic, chopped
Instructions:
Combine the sugar, flour, salt, pepper, and mustard in a bowl. Mix in the water, soy sauce, and vinegar until well blended.
In a pot, cover the ribs with water and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes, then drain.
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil until shimmering. Sear ribs on all sides until browned. Stir in sauce mixture and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for an additional 15 minutes, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness.
