Whiskey-spiked apple pie: A dash of whiskey enhances the flavors of sugar, apples, and spices in this irresistible dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 6 tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (225 degrees C), then expertly line a 9-inch pie plate with the bottom crust.
  • Combine sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Toss sliced apples with the sugar mixture in a large bowl until well coated. Transfer the coated apples into the pan.
  • Brush the apples with butter, sprinkle with whiskey, cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut steam vents on top.
  • Start by baking in a preheated oven for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking for another 40 minutes. Serve the dish warm.
