Beer-braised beef with onions, served with boiled carrots in a flavorful gravy. Perfect with mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds cubed beef stew meat
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) bottle beer
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon crushed dried rosemary
  • 1 pinch dried dill weed
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
  • Season the beef generously with salt and pepper before giving it a flour coat. Heat up oil in a spacious pot over medium-high heat. Once the oil is sizzling, add the meat and sear until beautifully browned on all sides, flipping occasionally. Take the meat out of the pot and reserve it for later.
  • Sauté the onion and garlic in the pot until clear and starting to brown, then add back the meat. Pour in the beer and water, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Season with rosemary, dill, and parsley.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, then allow to simmer on low heat for 1 1/2 hours, allowing the flavors to develop beautifully.
