Paprika-infused chicken and onions in a creamy sauce, pairs perfectly with egg noodles or rice.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (4 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2.5 cups hot water
  • 2 onions, peeled and sliced into rings
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Combine 1/2 cup flour, seasoned salt, thyme, and black pepper in a shallow dish. Coat chicken in the mixture and fry in shortening until golden brown all over.
  • Season chicken with paprika and garlic salt. Pour hot water into skillet and simmer chicken for 30 minutes. Add onion rings on top of chicken and simmer for another 30 minutes. Transfer chicken, with onions, to a serving platter and set aside.
  • Blend 2 tablespoons of flour with milk in a small bowl, then add to the liquid in the skillet. Stir and cook until thickened. Pour the creamy mixture over the chicken and serve alongside hot cooked white rice or egg noodles, if desired.
