Flavorful baked apple tube cake - ideal for parties and potlucks.
Ingredients:
  • 5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 5 medium apples - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  • Combine 5 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add apple slices and mix well to coat.
  • Combine flour, sugar, oil, orange juice, eggs, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Beat until smooth and well combined. The batter will be thick.
  • Spread half of the batter evenly in the tube pan, layer with half of the apple slices. Pour in the rest of the batter, and artistically place the remaining apple slices on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool in the pan for another hour. Loosen the edges with a table knife and carefully invert onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
