Upgrade your peanut butter cookies with a luscious chocolate kiss to create irresistible peanut butter blossoms.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups peanut butter
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 0.66666668653488 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.25 cup white sugar, or as needed
  • 2 (12 ounce) bags milk chocolate candy kisses (such as Hershey's Kisses®), unwrapped
Instructions:
  • Using an electric mixer, combine peanut butter, shortening, 2/3 cup white sugar, brown sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • In a bowl, gently combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into the peanut butter mixture until a smooth dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour before using.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place 1/4 cup of white sugar in a shallow bowl. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, coat them with sugar, and arrange them 1 1/2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  • Bake cookies in the preheated oven for 6 minutes, then rotate cookie sheets and bake for an additional 3 minutes. Press a chocolate kiss halfway into each cookie's center. Continue baking until chocolate starts to melt, about 2 to 3 minutes. Let cool on wire racks until chocolate hardens, approximately 3 hours.
