Savoury beef and green bean filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes in this effortless Shepherd's pie.
Ingredients:
  • 9 potatoes - peeled and cubed
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for a perfect bake.
  • In a large pot, add potatoes and enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then drain off any excess fat.
  • Combine tomato sauce, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt, ground black pepper, and green beans in the skillet.
  • Combine water and flour in a small bowl, then incorporate the mixture into the skillet.
  • After draining, mash the potatoes and generously spread them over the flavorful beef mixture. Create 2 to 3 small vent holes on the top to allow steam to escape while the casserole bakes to perfection.
  • After 20 minutes in the preheated oven, brush the potatoes with milk and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
