Elevate your spaghetti with a savory blend of bacon, ground beef, and crushed tomatoes for a delicious twist on a classic Italian favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 0.25 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil a pot of generously salted water until it's vigorously bubbling. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 12 minutes. Drain well.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, heat olive oil. Cook the bacon until crisp, about 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in onion, celery, carrot, and oregano and continue cooking until vegetables start to soften, another 8 to 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Crumble ground beef into the pot; cook and stir until beef is cooked through and no longer pink, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the savory ground beef and let it simmer until the liquid has reduced, approximately 5 minutes. Mix in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Bring everything to a boil, season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat. Gently fold in the fragrant fresh basil to finish.
  • Pour the sauce generously over the cooked spaghetti and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.
