Irresistible Southern sweet potato pie, a must-have for Thanksgiving and sure to win over even the pickiest eaters.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 4 cups peeled chopped sweet potatoes
  • 0.33333334326744 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup margarine
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 0.33333334326744 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then expertly mold the pie pastries into two 9-inch pie dishes.
  • In a big pot, submerge sweet potatoes in water and bring to a boil. Lower the heat, simmer until tender for 15 to 20 minutes. Drain and allow them to cool.
  • Combine potatoes, sugar, eggs, milk, margarine, vanilla extract, lemon extract, cloves, and allspice in a bowl and mix until smooth. Pour the mixture into the prepared crusts.
  • Cook the pies in the oven until the centers are firm, for 40 to 60 minutes.
