Irresistible Thanksgiving bread pudding, great warm or chilled with a touch of milk!
Ingredients:
  • 10 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup seedless raisins
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups milk
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 4 large eggs, well beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 2-quart casserole or baking dish with butter.
  • Butter the bread slices and elegantly cut each one into 4 squares with a sharp knife.
  • Layer half of the bread squares at the bottom of the casserole dish. Sprinkle raisins and half of the cinnamon on top. Add the remaining bread and cinnamon on top of the raisin layer.
  • In a medium saucepan, gently warm the milk over medium heat until a film forms on the surface, about 3 to 4 minutes. Take the saucepan off the heat and mix in the sugar until it dissolves.
  • Gradually infuse the hot milk into the beaten eggs, whisking vigorously to create a silky texture. Blend the egg-milk mixture back into the saucepan, whisking until velvety and fully amalgamated. Add vanilla essence and drizzle the luscious blend over the bread.
  • Place the casserole dish in a pan and pour in hot water until it reaches 1 inch up the sides of the casserole. Bake in the preheated oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve the dish warm.
