Banana bread with a buttery cinnamon sugar crust for a tender, delicious loaf with the tastiest crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with a generous 2 teaspoons of butter. Combine 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle it into the buttered pan. Swirl and tap the pan to evenly coat the inside with the cinnamon sugar mixture up to the top edge. Let it sit.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg, whisking until fully blended.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in mashed bananas and milk. Gently fold in the flour mixture until just combined (a few lumps are okay). Transfer the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
