Irresistible lemon meringue pie balances sweet and tangy flavors, a guaranteed family favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 0.5 cup lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 0.25 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and gently press the pie crust into a pie plate.
  • Combine the sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a bowl, then transfer the mixture into the pie crust.
  • Place in the hot oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Prepare the meringue topping by whipping egg whites and cream of tartar in a bowl with an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes. Spread this over the pie and bake until golden brown. Enjoy your delicious dessert!
  • After taking the pie out of the oven, raise the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cover the warm pie with meringue, ensuring it reaches the edges to seal. Use the back of a spoon to make peaks across the pie by dabbing and pulling up.
  • After baking for 15 minutes, allow the dish to cool at room temperature for 1 hour before chilling in the refrigerator.
