Authentic Irish soda bread recipe, a cherished family tradition. Perfect for soda bread lovers!
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 0.5 cup currants
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seed
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) while you generously grease 2 baking sheets.
  • In a large bowl, blend together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Mix in raisins, currants, and caraway seeds. Create a well in the center, then pour in milk and vinegar. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Transfer the dough onto a generously floured work surface and softly knead it 8 to 10 times. Divide the dough into two portions, then place them on the lined baking sheets.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, then lower the heat to 375 degrees F and continue baking until the bread is golden brown on top, about 15 more minutes.
