Decadent steamed pudding with caramel sauce and a dollop of whipped cream, a family favorite for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups cranberries
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Combine 2 cups of flour, baking soda, 1 cup of white sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Add milk, egg, and butter and mix well. Coat cranberries in the remaining 1/4 cup of flour, then gently fold them into the batter.
  • Transfer the batter into a greased round casserole dish with a lid, cover with foil, and steam in a water bath for 2 hours over medium-high heat. Add water as needed after the first hour.
  • Prepare the sauce by combining 1/2 cup each of white sugar, brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and let it come to a full boil. Boil for 1 minute, remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, then chill in the refrigerator. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Present the steamed pudding slices alongside the rich brown sugar sauce and a generous scoop of fluffy whipped cream.
