Vintage family cake recipe passed down from Great Grandmother's generation, perfect with frosting or whipped cream and berries.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a sweet 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while you give your cake pans a cozy butter and flour hug.
  • In a spacious bowl, whip together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; alternate stirring into the batter with milk. Mix in the vanilla, then evenly divide the batter between the prepared pans.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until it springs back when pressed gently in the center. Let it cool in the pans on a wire rack, then frost or fill as desired after it has completely cooled.
