Create a heavenly devil's food cake, poke, pour on buttery syrup for a luscious Southern delight.
Ingredients:
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box devil's food cake mix
- 0.5 cup butter
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
- Follow the instructions on the package to prepare and bake the cake batter.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan until foamy. Combine with evaporated milk, corn syrup, and sugar, and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add baking soda, and stir until foaming stops, approximately 2 minutes.
- Once the cake is out of the oven, gently pierce it with a butter knife or the end of a wooden spoon to create holes. Drizzle the syrup over the warm cake, then allow it to cool before slicing.
