Indulgent chewy caramel slice - perfect for tea time or as a delicious post-dinner delight.
Ingredients:
  • 4.00 gm baking powder
  • 80g (1/2 cup, loosely packed) brown sugar
  • 150g unsalted butter, melted
  • 400g can sweetened condensed milk
  • 100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar, extra
  • 50g unsalted butter, extra, chopped
  • 200g dark chocolate, melted
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a 16 x 26cm slab pan with non-stick baking paper on the base and sides.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and sugar. Create a well in the center and add the butter, then stir until fully combined. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan using the back of a spoon to smooth the surface. Bake until golden, about 20 minutes.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, simmer condensed milk, additional sugar, and extra butter. Stir constantly for 15 minutes until the mixture boils and thickens to perfection.
  • Drizzle the rich caramel over the buttery base and bake until the caramel bubbles, for about 10 minutes. Allow it to cool completely before enjoying.
  • Drizzle the velvety melted chocolate over the luscious caramel, ensuring a perfectly smooth finish. Allow it to rest until firm, then expertly slice into delectable squares.
