Tender beef sirloin cooked with potatoes and onion in a savory dashi, sake, and soy sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 8 snow peas
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 0.25 pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 4 potatoes, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 2 cups dashi soup
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup sake
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 onion, chopped
Instructions:
  • Place the snow peas in a small saucepan, cover with water, bring to a boil, then promptly drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sizzle the beef in the oil until it browns. Toss in the potatoes and sauté until soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Pour in the dashi soup, soy sauce, sake, and sugar, stirring well. Let it all simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and sprinkle the chopped onion over the mixture, letting it simmer until the liquid is almost completely evaporated, approximately 15 more minutes. Serve by topping the mixture with snow peas.
