Easy steamed salmon drizzled with a flavorful Japanese ginger-soy sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) salmon side, bones removed with pliers
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions:
  • Prepare the salmon side by cutting into quarters or halves. Set it aside.
  • In a large, heavy pot, bring chicken broth, ginger, minced onion, soy sauce, mirin, and sesame oil to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer.
  • Place a steamer basket in the pot. Arrange the salmon in a single layer in the steamer basket. Cover and steam for 5 to 7 minutes, checking for desired doneness. Remove and keep the salmon warm.
  • Simmer liquid until thickened into a flavorful sauce, 2 to 4 minutes. Drizzle over steamed salmon.
