Japanese omelet over ketchup-infused ham fried rice - Omuraisu.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 thin slices cooked ham, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 slice processed cheese food (such as Velveeta ®)
  • 2 eggs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 0.25 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat and spray with cooking spray. Mix in cooked rice, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, ham, and cheese (if using), stirring until well combined and heated through, approximately 8 minutes. Transfer the flavorful blend to a serving bowl and shape it into an inviting oval.
  • Whisk eggs with salt and pepper in a bowl. Heat a small skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and allow it to cook undisturbed until edges set. Fold the eggs gently into a cocoon shape using a spatula. Once fully cooked, remove from heat and serve.
  • Lay the omelet over the rice and gently cut through the top layer to create a butterfly effect. Draping the omelet elegantly over the rice, finish by adding a tablespoon of ketchup and a sprinkle of parsley for a vibrant finish.
