Indulgent vanilla custard: perfect for tarts with fresh fruit or creamy banana pie!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, then remove from heat.
  • In a heatproof mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks until silky. Slowly incorporate the granulated sugar and keep whisking until a light yellow color forms. Fold in the flour.
  • Gradually add the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture while beating constantly. Place the bowl over a pan of boiling water or use a double boiler. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and mix in the butter and vanilla. Cover with plastic wrap and let it cool.
