Create irresistible Penn State cake pops by combining Betty Crocker™ chocolate cake and frosting, shaping into balls, and decorating with candy melts for your next party.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting (from 16-oz container)
  • 3 3/4 cups royal blue candy melts (from two 12-oz bags)
  • 1/2 cup white candy melts (from 12-oz bag)
Instructions:
  • - Preheat your oven to 350°F. Follow the instructions on the cake mix box for a 13x9-inch pan. Allow the cake to cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Prepare a large cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. In a big bowl, crumble the cake and combine with frosting, mixing thoroughly. Form the mixture into 42 (1 1/2-inch) balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet. Freeze for about 1 hour until firm, then transfer to the refrigerator.
  • Microwave the blue candy melts in a 2-quart microwavable bowl on Medium (50%) for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Stir well. Keep microwaving and stirring in 30-second intervals until the candy melts are completely melted and smooth.
  • Take a few cake balls out of the refrigerator at a time. Place them on another waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Use 2 forks to dip and roll each ball in blue coating, gently shaking off any extra. Continue with the rest of the cake balls. Reheat the melted candy melts if they have cooled too much. Refrigerate the coated cake balls for 10 minutes.
  • Place the white candy melts in a small microwavable bowl and microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) power for 1 minute. Stir well. Continue microwaving and stirring in 30-second intervals until the candy is completely melted and smooth. Take the coated cake balls out of the refrigerator and use a fork to drizzle the melted white candy melts over them in a back and forth motion.
  • Chill cake balls in the refrigerator for approximately 10 minutes or until firm. Keep them covered in the fridge.
