Total Time:
Grandma's preserved peaches: A delightful twist on a classic using homegrown beauties.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 4 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks
  • 15 whole cloves
  • 4 pounds fresh peaches - peeled, pitted, and sliced
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine sugar and vinegar, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves, bringing the mixture to a boil. Cover and let it boil for approximately 5 minutes. Strain out the cloves and cinnamon sticks if desired, or keep them in for a bolder flavor.
  • Fill hot, 1 pint jars with peaches, leaving 1 inch of space at the top. Pour syrup into each jar, leaving 1/2 inch of space from the top. Wipe jar rims clean, seal with new lids and bands, then process in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.
